A Maltese chapter of a global pilots' movement.
The Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association was founded in the United States in 1939. Today it exists on every inhabited continent, and its Maltese chapter carries the same brief locally: keep flying accessible, safe, and worth doing.
To promote and safeguard the interests of general aviation in Malta — advocating for fair regulation, reasonable access to airspace and infrastructure, and a flying community that looks after its own.
Our members include private pilots, commercial and airline pilots, aircraft owners, student pilots and aviation enthusiasts. We work with Transport Malta, Malta International Airport, flying schools and other stakeholders to keep general aviation viable and enjoyable on the islands.
Concretely:
- Represent members with regulators and airport authorities
- Organise members' meetings, safety evenings and social gatherings
- Share local knowledge — procedures, weather, handling notes, airspace briefings
- Support new pilots, student pilots and first-time aircraft owners
- Speak up when a change to regulation or infrastructure would harm GA
